As a classroom teacher, I frequently visited ReadWriteThink for lesson plan ideas and innovative instructional tools. Now, as a university professor, I introduce my students to the wealth of resources available on the ReadWriteThink website and encourage them to use these resources in their own classrooms.
Valerie Shinas taught middle school language arts, reading, and social studies in Maine and Delaware. A classroom teacher for 10 years, Valerie served as a building-level Reading Specialist before becoming a full-time graduate student in 2010. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Delaware and is currently an assistant professor at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA..Valerie is a member of the International Reading Association.
