Faith Ringgold was born on October 8, 1930.
Students use Ringgold's books as a springboard for a discussion of race, gender, and civil rights, and then write and illustrate original picture books on these topics.
Grades 5 – 12
Columbus Day is recognized today.
Students create a class or individual "Book of Privileges" based on accomplishments that students have achieved and the rewards they have received as a result of their work.
