WEBSITES
PREPARATION
- Gather copies of books on the ocean or other theme, as well as books that feature alliteration.
- Make appropriate copies of Sample Books and Activities on Alliteration, Guided Practice Worksheet, Independent Worksheet, and Self-Assessment Checklist.
- If computers are available, review the Multigenre Mapper and decide whether to use the online tool or the printed Template for Younger Students or Older Students. If computers are not available, make copies of the template that is most appropriate for your students.
- Keep in mind while working on alliteration, that alliteration of children's names or the school name may be used inappropriately. Be sure to stop any name-calling right away, even if well intended because it has the potential to be hurtful.
- If you are using the online option, test the Multigenre Mapper on your computers to familiarize yourself with the tools and ensure that you have the Flash plug-in installed. You can download the plug-in from the technical support page.
