I believe rather than having the students use spell check as a resource they should be taught spelling rules and implement these rules in the spelling of these prefix words. As a society I think we rely to much on computer to do the work for us and we are no longer teaching the basics but assuming the computer will take care of it. The lesson other than that is beautiful. If I completed this in my classroom I would do the extension of the lesson, which was stated as a new word a week to be presented to the class. As words accumulated I would do fun games with the words to keep the kids interested in retaining the knowledge of these words and not just learning it for the week and forgetting about it. I would also have a word tree in the back of the room with all the words of the week accumulated at the current time and add to it as we go and reference them in other lessons for more generalization of the words.
