Constructing New Understanding Through Choral Readings of Shakespeare 
After reading The Tempest or any other play by William Shakespeare, students work in small groups to plan, compose, and perform a choral reading based on a character or theme.

Students analyzing a play can map out the key elements of character, setting, conflict, and resolution for a variety purposes. This interactive is aimed at secondary students.

Actor Sidney Poitier was born in 1924.
Students do a journal entry about barriers that have been broken–such as age, race, and gender–that might impede them in the future, and how they can break through those barriers.
Grades 5 – 12 | Calendar Activity | March 24
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof premiered in New York in 1955.
Students are introduced to the characteristics of drama, read a chapter from a novel the class has read, and create a script from the chapter that they will present to the class.
