Amazing Biographies: Writing About People Who Change the World

Activity Description
After reading about historical figures and other important people that have changed the world in 10 Amazing People And How They Changed the World, children discuss some people whom they consider to be “amazing” and “heroes.” Next, biographical information is collected on someone he/she considers to be “amazing” and the child uses an online interactive to organize the information. Finally, children create a book page that highlights this person.
Why This Is Helpful
Learning about people in history who have made a difference in our world is an important way to understand why we live the life we do and how we can help shape the future. In this activity, children read about important people from history in the book 10 Amazing People And How They Changed the World. Then, an interactive is used to input and organize information about someone from history or their lives that they consider to be “amazing,” and the child then creates a book page that highlights this person.
