Activity
Beguiling Billboards: Finding Inspiration along the Road

Activity Description
While driving around town or surfing the Internet, teens are sure to see “Pass It On” billboards brought to them by The Foundation for a Better Life that are meant to inspire and motivate people to do good. In this activity, teens will study examples of these billboards and create their own original billboard and inspirational phrase for a person of their choosing.
Why This Is Helpful
Many teens don’t have a way of connecting “lessons learned” about values to real world reading and writing. Observing, understanding, and creating are all important skills for teens to continue to improve upon in and out of school. Teens can strengthen these literacy skills by examining billboards that have been created to highlight the values that they are familiar with. With their creativity stimulated by existent billboards, teens can be prompted to create personalized billboards that recognize the values that have been instilled in them and those that emulate and represent those values.
