A Dragon's Fire: From A to Z
In the picture book Not Your Typical Dragon, little Crispin Blaze can’t breathe fire like all the other dragons. With this activity, children can dig into the details of the book by listing each of the items that Crispin does exhale. Whipped cream, beach balls, bubbles and more! Using the interactive Alphabet Organizer tool helps kids take Crispin’s list of silly items and classify them by first letter. Then children can continue practicing this skill by dreaming up additional items for Crispin to breathe and organizing those by first letter, too.
Children take a big step toward reading when they can identify the first letter of each word they see or hear. Creating ABC word lists helps children practice this important skill, which also benefits writing and spelling.
