Why Use This Tool
There's no better way to motivate teens to write than giving a real-world application--and that's especially true when you connect it to technology. Resume Generator provides teens with a guide to building a polished resume that shows their career readiness skills and helps them to
Start by talking to the teen about the role of a resume when applying for a job, for scholarships, or for college. Have the teen identify a dream job and then brainstorm and research the qualifications needed for that career. Launch the Resume Generator tool, and create a resume for an imaginary successful person in that career.
- Put a twist on the activity by having the teen pretend to be the employer or the college admittance director. Do they see any gaps in the skills and experience on the resume? How can the resume author fill those gaps?
- Many colleges today are looking for more than just good grades. Help the teen create a resume of their academic and extracurricular experiences to showcase their skills.
We invite you to share your experiences with this resource and provide us with any feedback on how it can be improved.
