This video serves as a model of what these projects may look like and to hear students talking about the choices they made when completing the project.

The choral reading performed in this video was prepared and performed by students in a combined junior and senior English class. The students performing the video are tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders.
The video was recorded outside of class time which allowed for the use of multiple takes in the final video product, but the amount of planning and rehearsal time was analogous to the amount of time students would have been given in class for this assignment. The final product demonstrated on the video is the standard level of work expected from students in the classroom.
The students in the video attend University of Illinois Laboratory High School, a public five year high school. Uni has a competitive admissions process based on application essays, prior academic performance, Secondary School Admission Test scores, and recommendations from previous teachers. Students at Uni are drawn from the three counties that surround the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and speak 32 languages.
