Lisa Owens holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Iowa. Since 1993, Owens has specialized in creating books, teacher guides, and other products for the K-12 education market. She launched her own business, Owens Editorial Ink (http://www.owenseditorialink.com), in 2002. Her client list includes ABDO, Harcourt Achieve, Perfection Learning, Hooked on Phonics, and Scott Foresman. In addition to writing children's books under the pen name L. L. Owens, Lisa also conducts author visits, teaches adult education classes in writing and editing, and chairs the Editorial Freelancers Association (http://the-efa.org) education program.

Lisa studied English and journalism at the University of Iowa. She is a member of EFA, Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and Authors Guild.
