Valorie A. Stokes works as the library-media specialist in Platte City, Missouri. She has also recently taught introductory composition and reading courses at Missouri Western State University. Previously, Valorie worked for the St. Joseph School District teaching honors and advanced-placement English classes and serving as that district’s content area reading enhancement facilitator.
Valorie has also served as an active teacher consultant and advisory board member for the Prairie Lands Writing Project (PLWP) located on the Missouri Western campus. As a part of her work for the PLWP, she facillitates its professional learning communities and serves as a facilitator for the Missouri Writing Project Network’s Literacy Academies program, a professional development series sponsored in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. She is a member of the International Reading Association.
